  • Al Kaline Hand Signed Autographed Rawlings Baseball
  • Al Kaline (1934–2020), affectionately known as “Mr. Tiger,” was one of the greatest players in Detroit Tigers history and one of baseball’s premier right fielders. Kaline spent his entire 22-season Major League career with Detroit from 1953 through 1974, reaching the majors directly from high school at just 18 years old.An 18-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner, Kaline became the youngest player in American League history to win a batting championship when he hit .340 in 1955 at age 20. Combining an outstanding throwing arm and defensive ability with consistent hitting and power, he became the face of the Tigers for more than two decades.Kaline's greatest team achievement came during the 1968 World Series, when Detroit defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. Playing through injuries, Kaline batted .379 with two home runs and eight RBIs during the Series, helping the Tigers overcome a three-games-to-one deficit to capture the championship.Kaline retired with 3,007 hits, 399 home runs, 1,583 RBIs, and a .297 batting average. The Tigers retired his No. 6, making him the first Detroit player to have his uniform number retired by the franchise. Kaline was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980 on his first ballot, cementing his legacy as one of the finest all-around players of his generation.
