  • ddie Mathews (1931–2001), George Kell (1922–2009), Willie McCovey (1938–2018), Enos Slaughter (1916–2002), and Andy Benes (born 1967) represent several generations of accomplished Major League Baseball talent. Mathews was one of the premier power-hitting third basemen in baseball history, spending most of his career with the Braves and finishing with 512 home runs, 12 All-Star selections, and two World Series championships. Kell, a superb third baseman best remembered with the Detroit Tigers, was a 10-time All-Star and 1949 American League batting champion, narrowly defeating Ted Williams for the title. McCovey, the intimidating San Francisco Giants slugger nicknamed “Stretch,” hit 521 career home runs, won the 1969 National League MVP Award, and became one of the most feared left-handed power hitters of his era. Slaughter, nicknamed “Country,” was a 10-time All-Star whose famous “Mad Dash” from first base to home scored the winning run for the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series. Benes, the first overall selection in the 1988 MLB Draft, became a standout starting pitcher for the San Diego Padres and later pitched for the Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals, and Arizona Diamondbacks, recording 155 victories and 2,000 strikeouts during a 14-season career. Mathews, Kell, McCovey, and Slaughter were all inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, while Benes was one of the notable starting pitchers of the 1990s.

  • This Collection is offered with the personal guarantee of the consignor, Richard Andrews, who assembled it directly from the athletes over many years of collecting. Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites.Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate andbased on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others.As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundredtwenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
