  • Frank Howard Hand Signed Autographed Washington Senators Photograph
  • Frank Howard (1936–2023), famously nicknamed “Hondo” and “The Capital Punisher,” was one of Major League Baseball’s most intimidating power hitters of the 1960s and early 1970s. Standing an imposing 6-foot-7, Howard played 16 Major League seasons, starring with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Senators before later playing for the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers.Howard began his career with Los Angeles and captured the 1960 National League Rookie of the Year Award after hitting 23 home runs with 77 RBIs. He was also a member of the Dodgers’ dominant 1963 World Series championship team, homering during their four-game sweep of the New York Yankees.Howard became a superstar after joining the Washington Senators. A four-time All-Star, he led the American League in home runs in 1968 and 1970 and topped the league with 126 RBIs in 1970. During an extraordinary six-game stretch in May 1968, Howard blasted 10 home runs, one of the greatest short-term power displays in baseball history. From 1968 through 1970 alone, he totaled 136 home runs and 343 RBIs.Howard retired with 382 home runs, 1,774 hits, and 1,119 RBIs. His enormous stature, towering home runs, and popularity in Washington made “The Capital Punisher” one of the most memorable sluggers of his generation and an enduring figure in Washington Senators baseball history.
