  • George Nelson for Howard Miller, the 'Basket' wall clock is one of the more rare editions. Small white or black circles mark the number positions around the face. Circa 1952 (an oval was also offered in 1954. Woven wicker-basket clock face. This version of the model, has brown wicker, white hour markers & center cap, with orig. black angular hands and red second hand. From the center, the long minute hand and the triangular hour hand, a beloved feature of George Nelson clock designs. Designed by Irving Harper of George Nelson Associates and produced by Howard Miller, Produced in early 1950’s, 11-1/4"dia X 4-1/2"dia w/motor inside wood housing X 2-3/4"D, Likely model# 2215A in 1952 (NOTE: wicker is free-wheeling so it can be move around the clock to the setting you wish for 12-top center. Some collectors have glued these in place, I have not.) Taken from his Wiki: Harper decided to create clocks that were a piece of sculpture. "To omit numbers and have an abstract object that moved on the wall was something no one was doing at the time". Harper was the principle designer of the iconic wall clocks from George Nelson Associates.
