  • Joe Namath (born 1943), famously nicknamed “Broadway Joe,” was one of professional football’s most charismatic and influential quarterbacks. Best remembered for his years with the New York Jets, Namath became the face of the American Football League during the 1960s with his powerful passing arm, confidence, and larger-than-life personality. In 1967, he became the first professional quarterback to pass for more than 4,000 yards in a season, throwing for 4,007 yards in just 14 games.Namath’s defining moment came in Super Bowl III, when he boldly guaranteed that the underdog Jets would defeat the heavily favored Baltimore Colts. He delivered on that promise, leading New York to a stunning 16–7 victory and earning Super Bowl MVP honors. The upset provided enormous credibility to the AFL shortly before its merger with the NFL and remains one of the most significant games in professional football history.A five-time AFL All-Star and Pro Bowl selection, Namath finished his career with 27,663 passing yards and 173 touchdown passes despite battling serious knee injuries throughout much of his playing career. His No. 12 was retired by the Jets, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985, cementing “Broadway Joe” as one of the defining personalities and quarterbacks of his era.

Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites.Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate andbased on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others.As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundredtwenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
