  • Mt Washington Late 19th Century Victorian Hand Painted Floral Lobed Opal Glass Dresser Box
  • The squat, lobed body is blown in soft creamy opal glass with a gently ribbed melon form, hand-painted throughout with delicate sprays of pink and white blossoms with yellow centers and wispy green foliage, rendered in naturalistic enamels against the warm frosted ground. The painting exhibits the refined, luminous quality characteristic of Mt. Washington's best decorative work from this period. The body is fitted with its original repousse silver-plate lid, elaborately chased with scrolling acanthus leaves, florals, and dense foliate relief — the hallmark of high Victorian decorative taste. The lid fits snugly to a silver-plate collar at the rim, and the overall form and scale are consistent with a powder jar, hair receiver, or vanity dresser box intended for a lady's dressing table.
  • Excellent condition. Age related wear.
  • Jar is 5 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" wide.
