  • Orlando Cepeda (1937–2024), Willie Stargell (1940–2001), Harold “Pee Wee” Reese (1918–1999), Enos Slaughter (1916–2002), and Willie Mays (1931–2024) represent an extraordinary group of Major League Baseball stars whose careers helped define the game from the 1930s through the early 1980s. Cepeda, nicknamed the “Baby Bull,” was the 1958 National League Rookie of the Year and 1967 NL MVP, finishing his career with 379 home runs. Stargell, affectionately known as “Pops,” spent his entire 21-season career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, hitting 475 home runs and leading the celebrated “We Are Family” Pirates to the 1979 World Series championship while earning NL and World Series MVP honors. Reese was the longtime captain and shortstop of the Brooklyn Dodgers, earning 10 All-Star selections, helping Brooklyn win its first World Series championship in 1955, and becoming especially respected for his public support of teammate Jackie Robinson during baseball’s integration. Slaughter, a 10-time All-Star with the St. Louis Cardinals, is immortalized for his famous “Mad Dash” that scored the winning run in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series. Mays, the legendary “Say Hey Kid,” combined extraordinary hitting, power, speed, and defense during a 23-season career, finishing with 660 home runs, 3,293 hits, 12 Gold Gloves, and two National League MVP Awards. All five were inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, making this an especially distinguished collection of baseball legends.

  • This Collection is offered with the personal guarantee of the consignor, Richard Andrews, who assembled it directly from the athletes over many years of collecting. Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites.Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate andbased on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others.As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundredtwenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
