  • Pete Rose (1941–2024), famously nicknamed “Charlie Hustle,” was one of the most prolific hitters in Major League Baseball history and a cornerstone of the Cincinnati Reds’ legendary “Big Red Machine.” During a 24-season career with the Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and Montreal Expos, Rose became baseball’s all-time leader with 4,256 career hits, surpassing Ty Cobb’s longstanding record in 1985.A 17-time All-Star, Rose uniquely earned All-Star selections at five different positions. He won three National League batting titles, two Gold Gloves, the 1973 National League MVP Award, and was named World Series MVP in 1975. Rose won three World Series championships—back-to-back titles with Cincinnati in 1975 and 1976 and another with Philadelphia in 1980—and finished his career with MLB records for games played and at-bats.Rose’s remarkable playing achievements are accompanied by a complicated legacy. In 1989, he accepted permanent placement on baseball’s ineligible list following an investigation into his betting on baseball while managing the Reds. Nevertheless, his 4,256 hits remain the Major League record, and his relentless style of play made “Charlie Hustle” one of the most recognizable figures of his era.

  • This Collection is offered with the personal guarantee of the consignor, Richard Andrews, who assembled it directly from the athletes over many years of collecting. Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites.Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate andbased on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others.As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundredtwenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
