  • Rocky Colavito Hand Signed Autographed Detroit Tigers Photograph
  • Rocky Colavito (1933–2024), affectionately known as “The Rock,” was one of Major League Baseball’s premier power hitters of the late 1950s and 1960s and a longtime fan favorite of the Cleveland Indians. Colavito played 14 Major League seasons from 1955 through 1968, also starring with the Detroit Tigers and spending time with the Kansas City Athletics, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Yankees.A six-time All-Star, Colavito emerged as one of the American League’s most dangerous sluggers. In 1959, he led the league with 42 home runs and became one of the few players in Major League history to hit four home runs in a single game, accomplishing the feat against the Baltimore Orioles. After joining Detroit, he enjoyed another tremendous season in 1961, hitting 45 home runs with 140 RBIs.Colavito was remarkably consistent as a power hitter, producing 11 consecutive seasons with at least 20 home runs. In addition to his power, he possessed one of the strongest outfield throwing arms of his era and became particularly popular with fans in Cleveland.Colavito retired with 374 home runs, 1,730 hits, and 1,159 RBIs. Although his 1960 trade from Cleveland to Detroit became one of the most controversial transactions in Indians history, “The Rock” remained an enduring favorite in Cleveland and one of the most memorable American League sluggers of his generation.
