  • Willie McCovey Signed Autographed 1960s San Francisco Giants Pennant
  • Willie McCovey (1938–2018), affectionately known as “Stretch,” was one of the most feared power hitters of his generation and a legendary figure in San Francisco Giants history. The towering left-handed first baseman made an immediate impact in 1959, batting .354 with 13 home runs in just 52 games to earn National League Rookie of the Year honors.McCovey spent most of his 22-season Major League career with the Giants and became a six-time All-Star. His finest season came in 1969, when he hit 45 home runs with 126 RBIs and was named National League MVP. Known for his tremendous home-run power, McCovey finished his career with 521 home runs, 1,555 RBIs, and 2,211 hits.One of the defining moments of his career came in Game 7 of the 1962 World Series, when his hard-hit line drive was caught for the final out with the potential tying and winning runs on base. McCovey’s No. 44 was retired by the Giants, and he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986. His legacy remains especially strong in San Francisco, where the waters beyond the right-field wall of the Giants’ ballpark are famously known as McCovey Cove.

  • This Collection is offered with the personal guarantee of the consignor, Richard Andrews, who assembled it directly from the athletes over many years of collecting. Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites. Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate and based on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others. As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundred twenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
