  • Gaylord Perry (1938–2022), Roland Glen “Rollie” Fingers (born 1946), Johnny Podres (1932–2008), Ernie Banks (1931–2015), and Robin Roberts (1926–2010) represent an accomplished group of Major League Baseball stars whose careers span the 1940s through the 1980s. Perry was a dominant right-handed pitcher who won 314 games and two Cy Young Awards, becoming the first pitcher to earn the award in both leagues. Fingers, recognizable for his trademark handlebar mustache, helped revolutionize the role of the modern relief pitcher, winning three consecutive World Series championships with the Oakland Athletics and earning both the American League MVP and Cy Young Awards in 1981. Podres became a Brooklyn Dodgers hero in 1955 when he threw a shutout against the Yankees in Game 7 of the World Series, giving Brooklyn its first and only World Series championship and earning World Series MVP honors. Banks, the beloved “Mr. Cub,” spent his entire Major League career with the Chicago Cubs, winning consecutive National League MVP Awards in 1958 and 1959 and finishing with 512 home runs. Roberts was the durable ace of the Philadelphia Phillies’ famed “Whiz Kids,” winning 286 games and leading the National League in victories for four consecutive seasons. Perry, Fingers, Banks, and Roberts were each inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, while Podres remains celebrated for one of the defining pitching performances in World Series history.

  • This Collection is offered with the personal guarantee of the consignor, Richard Andrews, who assembled it directly from the athletes over many years of collecting. Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites.Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate andbased on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others.As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundredtwenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
