  • Pete Rose (1941–2024) and Steve Garvey (born 1948) were two of the most recognizable National League stars of the 1970s and 1980s. Rose, famously nicknamed “Charlie Hustle,” played 24 Major League seasons, primarily with the Cincinnati Reds, and was a cornerstone of the legendary “Big Red Machine.” A 17-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion, Rose won the 1973 National League MVP Award and retired with 4,256 hits, the most in Major League history. His accomplishments on the field remain historically significant despite his later permanent ineligibility from baseball for betting on games while managing the Reds.Garvey became one of the era’s most durable and consistent first basemen, starring with the Los Angeles Dodgers before joining the San Diego Padres. A 10-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, he was named National League MVP in 1974 and helped the Dodgers win the 1981 World Series. Garvey later played a major role in leading San Diego to its first World Series appearance in 1984, earning NL Championship Series MVP honors. He finished his 19-season career with 2,599 hits, 272 home runs, and 1,308 RBIs, while his streak of 1,207 consecutive games played remains one of the longest in National League history.

  • This Collection is offered with the personal guarantee of the consignor, Richard Andrews, who assembled it directly from the athletes over many years of collecting. Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the autographed items in this Collection were personally signed by the athlete in Mr. Andrews' presence. The remaining items were obtained from reputable auction sites.Mr. Andrews affirms that, to the best of his personal knowledge, no item in this Collection has been falsified, altered, re-signed, or misrepresented, and that the details provided for each item are accurate andbased on his own first-hand experience obtaining the autograph. Mr. Andrews began collecting baseball cards in the late 1950’s and continued into the early 1990’s. He befriended several promoters of sports card shows in the mid-1980’s, and this is how he came to know the athletes and obtain the majority of the autographs in his collection. In assisting with the aforementioned sports card shows, he was able to meet and spend personal time with many of his childhood baseball heroes, including Mickey Mantle, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, and many others.As added assurance, Crafted Auctions will accept the return of any item in this Collection if the buyer obtains a documented “not authentic” determination from PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett within one hundredtwenty (120) days of purchase. The item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, accompanied by the authenticator's written determination, for a full refund of the purchase price. Additionally, by appointment, Mr. Andrews will make himself available to share with any buyer additional specific details of any item in the Collection that is being offered at auction.
